Luke Healy is an Orange County (Orlando) Deputy Sheriff with 27 years of service. His current and final assignment is as a task force agent with the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI). MBI is a Florida organized crime task force that was formed in 1978 and is responsible for long-term investigations into drug-trafficking organizations, vice crimes, public corruption, and human trafficking.
During his time with MBI, Luke has conducted numerous investigations with a focus on drug-trafficking organizations fueled by either foreign or domestic cartels. Typically, these investigations begin at the local level and, once larger sources are identified, expand statewide, throughout the U.S., and internationally (Mexico, Canada, South America). Luke has used a variety of techniques to dismantle these organizations. The techniques he has found to be most advantageous are wiretaps. He has been an affiant on over 100 wire orders and has specialized in wiretap intrusions and social media wiretaps of platforms like Facebook and Instagram. These intrusions include court-ordered installation of surreptitious cameras and microphones in places like businesses, trap houses, and vehicles. These wires produce communications that can clear up blind spots in the intelligence gathered from ordinary cellular wires.
These investigations have led to hundreds of arrests and successful prosecutions, including racketeering, human trafficking, drug trafficking, armed robbery/home invasions, kidnapping, and homicide. Investigations like these have made the MBI a go-to resource for the FBI, DEA, IRS, ATF, HSI, USPIS, and local agencies that have hit roadblocks in their pursuit of justice.
