Dr. Alexander is a dynamic and internationally renowned physician scientist with extensive scientific, clinical, and regulatory experience in pharmaceutical development and public health. Dr. Alexander is a principal and co-founder at Stage Analytics, a practicing internist, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the founding co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness. A widely sought after speaker, he has more than 400 scientific publications and more than two decades of independent funding to support a large and highly productive research team. He has testified about his team’s work on the opioid epidemic in front of the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, and many other authoritative bodies, and he served as the primary plaintiffs’ abatement expert in federal multi-district (MDL) opioid litigation. During the past decade, Dr. Alexander has devoted much of his professional time to addressing the opioid epidemic. This work has been funded by the Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (DHHS/ASPE), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has participated in efforts to improve the safe use of prescription opioids within Johns Hopkins Medicine and other health systems.
As a highly self-motivated and enterprise thinker, Dr. Alexander co-founded Stage Analytics (“Stage”) in 2017. He serves as a Principal and Director of the Board. His work at Stage has included leading the design of abatement plans for plaintiffs in opioid litigation in state and federal courts. Dr. Alexander and the Stage Analytics team work with communities to mitigate the opioid epidemic by responsibly investing settlement funds.
