Dr. Rachel Wightman is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Epidemiology at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is a triple board-certified practicing physician in medical toxicology, emergency medicine, and addiction medicine. She serves as the Director of Toxicology and Addiction Medicine for Brown Emergency Medicine and is a Consultant Medical Director for Overdose Prevention and Surveillance at the Rhode Island Department of Health. She co-founded the Rhode Island Buprenorphine Hotline, a statewide free telehealth buprenorphine treatment access line in partnership with the state health department funded by SAMSHA. She has been PI or Site-PI on NIH funded studies of cannabinoid hyperemesis, cannabis and trauma, and buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder. She also serves as the medical toxicology consultant for drug checking programs in Massachusetts and New York City.
