Jessica Schwartz

Jessica Schwartz, RN, CARN, is a Registered Nurse and substance use disorder (SUD) Program Manager at the Essentia Health St. Joseph's Baxter Clinic location. In 2009, Ms. Schwartz started her career in healthcare, first becoming an LPN then an RN. Ms. Schwartz earned her Certified Addiction RN designation in 2021. Ms. Schwartz supervises an interdisciplinary including support staff and a community health worker. Her work also includes programmatic development and education related to SUD with a goal of integration of behavioral health in primary care. She has collaborated to develop educational content about naloxone for all nursing staff and withdrawal management for emergency department nurses across the Essentia Health System. She works in the community as a naloxone trainer. Ms. Schwartz has presented on three separate occasions to the Essentia Health Fall/Spring Conferences. She is active in community networks, as a member of the Crow Wing Energized Steering Committee, a co-chair of that organization's Mental Fitness goal group. She is also a member of the Central Lakes College Human Services Advising Group, a member of the Brainerd Lakes Area Drug Education coalition. In 2022, Ms. Schwartz was the recipient of Essentia Health’s Justice Award. Ms. Schwartz is now leading the UMROR Project as it transitions to a new format. She serves on the system wide Essentia Health Opioid Use Disorder/Harm reduction committee. She is passionate about improving awareness and patient-centered care to individuals with substance use disorders.
