Sarah Pointer
PharmD

Sarah Pointer is the Clinical Director of the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program. Sarah received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She spent several years working as a health system clinical pharmacist specializing in critical care before transitioning to the State of Illinois in 2013. She began her career with the State of Illinois as a Clinical Pharmacist for the Department of Healthcare and Family Services for Medicaid and Managed Care. Sarah then became the Clinical Director for the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program in 2017. She directs the operations for the Advisory Committee and its Peer Review Subcommittee and assists in the coordination and oversight of projects related to controlled substance policy, academic detailing, continuing education, community outreach, and public health programs throughout the state of Illinois.
