Ju Nyeong Park
PhD, MHS

Dr. Park is a substance use epidemiologist who conducts community-based research on innovative solutions to the opioid epidemic. She earned her Ph.D. and M.H.S. at Johns Hopkins University and B.Sc. from the University of Sydney. Dr. Park's team, the Harm Reduction Innovation Lab (HRIL) is based at Rhode Island Hospital. HRIL's mission is to evaluate innovative interventions to help reduce overdose deaths and promote the wellbeing of people who use drugs. Current projects span topics including overdose detection technologies, community drug checking services, overdose prevention centers, and drug policy. Dr. Park has extensive experience conducting epidemiologic studies, mixed-methods studies, and drug surveillance. She has published over 90 peer-reviewed publications on substance use, HIV and overdose and serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Drug Policy. Her research has been supported by the CDC, SAMHSA, NIAID, NIDA, and NIGMS.
