Marlene Martin
MD

Marlene Martin, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and a hospitalist at San Francisco General Hospital. Drawn to medicine to address health inequities and social injustices, her interests lie in systems improvement and innovation with a focus on addiction, community partnerships, Latine health, and care transitions.

Dr. Martin is board certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine and founding director of the award-winning Addiction Care Team (ACT) since 2019. ACT is an interprofessional addiction medicine consult service that partners with community and hospital-based teams to provide compassionate care focused on harm reduction, evidence-based treatment, and linkage to care for hospitalized patients with substance use disorders.

Passionate about community partnerships, Dr. Martin is also the Director of Addiction Initiatives for UCSF Latinx Center of Excellence (LCOE). In this role, she partnered with Latine community-based organizations to co-develop, implement, and evaluate a Program for Education in Drugs and Alcohol for Latine (PEDAL) in Spanish for community health workers aimed at improving the health of Latine individuals affected by substance use disorders.
