Shirley Madewell
MPH

Shirley Madewell, MPH has worked in diverse roles within public health for over 20 years. She currently serves as Senior Program Coordinator in the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, funded under the CDC, Overdose Data to Action grant. In this role, Ms. Madewell coordinates activities to improve access, use, and functionality of the NYS Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP); facilitates multiple workgroups; and develops prevention strategies that focus on education, technical assistance to improve data quality, functional enhancements, stakeholder engagement, interstate interoperability and electronic health record (EHR) integration, and applying health equity approaches to data driven activities. Ms. Madewell has extensive experience in delivering trainings and presentations. In addition to her current work, she has worked in the fields of HIV/ AIDS, Environmental Health, and Public Health Emergency Preparedness. Ms. Madewell brings a health equity lens to all her work within public health.
