Andrew Kolodny
MD

Dr. Andrew Kolodny is the Medical Director for the Opioid Policy Research Collaborative at the Heller School at Brandeis University and he serves as President of Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing, an organization that advocates for more cautious opioid prescribing.

Dr. Kolodny has assisted Committees of the United States Senate and House of Representatives, the U.S. Department of Justice and state Attorneys General in their investigations of the opioid industry and pain organizations. He has also served as an expert witness in litigation by state and local governments against the opioid industry.

Dr. Kolodny served as a medical advisor for the Hulu series Dopesick and the documentaries: Warning this Drug May Kill You, Crime of the Century and Anonymous Sister.

Dr. Kolodny previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Phoenix House, a national nonprofit addiction treatment agency and Chair of Psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Kolodny has a long-standing interest in public health. He began his career working for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the Office of the Executive Deputy Commissioner. For New York City, he helped develop and implement multiple programs to improve the health of New Yorkers and save lives, including citywide buprenorphine programs, naloxone overdose prevention programs and emergency room-based screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT) programs for drug and alcohol misuse.
