Steven D'Agata

Chief Steven D’Agata graduated in 2007 from University at Albany with a dual bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology. D’Agata started with the Village of Liberty Police Department after graduating the Rockland County Police Academy and served as Officer, Detective, and Detective Sergeant. From 2014 to 2018, D’Agata served on the FBI Safe Streets Task Force as a federal task force officer investigating high level narcotics crimes. In April 2021 D'Agata was appointed Chief of Police of the Village of Liberty Police Department. Since April 2021, D’Agata has implemented the Hope Not Handcuffs Program and has been appointed as co-chair of the law enforcement pillar of Sullivan County Substance Use Task Force. Chief D'Agata also serves on the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiate (PAARI) Public Safety Council. In 2023 Chief D'Agata founded the Village of Liberty Quick Response Team in collaboration with Hope Not Handcuffs Hudson Valley.
