Dr. Renee Cloutier is the Scientific Director at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy, Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU). Dr. Cloutier’s interdisciplinary training and research bridge the fields of psychology, addiction science, public health, prevention science, implementation science, and quantitative methods to (1) enhance the multi-system measurement of emerging substance use patterns and harms while (2) improving access and quality of care for individuals with substance use disorder and (3) improving access to knowledge (e.g., real time localized data of emerging toxins in drug supply, fatal and non-fatal overdose rates) and resources (e.g., naloxone) to prevent substance use harms. Dr. Cloutier has had research funded through the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and Arnold Ventures Foundation while supporting federal (e.g., CDC, HRSA, SAMHSA), state (e.g., DDAP, DHS), and foundation (e.g., NACDS) funded projects/contracts involving complex, multi-systems level implementation and evaluation. To date, Dr. Cloutier has published 37 peer reviewed journal articles, given 87 conference presentations to national and international academic audiences, reviewed APA and NSF grant proposals, and served on the editorial board of an APA journal.
