Brittany O'Brien, PhD
Dr Brittany O'Brien is an Associate Professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at The New School for Social Research in New York City and post-doctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She splits her time between clinical work providing psychotherapy for patients with complex, treatment refractory mood, anxiety and trauma related disorders and conducting research on novel pharmacologic and neuromodulation interventions for patients who have not benefitted from available, first-line treatments. She has particular interest in emerging and off-label treatments including ketamine and psychedelic medicines. Her work utilizes agnostic research methodologies to understand and optimize treatment response in real world settings. She is active in training and established the Mood Disorders Track for the department's pre-doctoral psychology internship and post-doctoral training programs in 2020. Dr O'Brien continues to oversee training for psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows and expanded the track to include evidence-based trauma focused training in 2022.
