Deputy Chief Christopher Keller has been a paramedic with the City of New Orleans since 2002. With decades of experience, DC Keller is now using his expertise to lead and support the department's 150 EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics toward growth and success as a municipal third service. He has previously served in various roles, including New Orleans Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness EMS Liaison, Operations Shift Commander, Operations Lieutenant, and Rescue Technician. DC Keller obtained his EMT-Basic certification from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1993, and his National Registered Paramedic certification from East Baton Rouge EMS in 1995. In 2018, DC Keller started advocating for EMS Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) and successfully implemented the first EMS BWC program in Louisiana in 2023.
