Senior living operators are increasingly entering into value-based contracts with healthcare payers. The objective is to improve the resident experience and quality of care while sharing in the value created by reducing unnecessary medical spend.

In this session we will explore how the senior living operator creates value for the healthcare continuum. We will review the data from academic literature and case studies while also sharing our practical experiences. We’ll consider drivers for reducing resident vulnerability, ways to optimize care, and think about the “value” in value-based care beyond reducing medical spend.

We’ll start with an exploration of the value created by the standard components of seniors housing such as addressing unmet needs for ADL care, med management, safe housing, and social engagement. We’ll proceed to explore additional value creation opportunities through the integration of healthcare services onsite, enhanced care coordination, and leveraging data and technology to enhance proactive care.
