Regardless of the senior living setting, a resident's background, socio economic status, gender, or education there are times when behavioral changes and unanticipated or escalating expressions may occur with someone living in community. In Independent Living, Resident Services Directors have a unique opportunity to witness expressions in the initial stages of change and Clinical Directors of Wellness or Assisted Living/Long Term Care manage the spectrum of early to later stage behavior changes and expressions. Memory Care Program Directors develop memory care programs customized to the cognitive, emotional and physical needs of residents diagnosed with various dementias and/or Alzheimer’s disease. Whether a resident’s change in demeanor is subtle, sudden, or ongoing, when, and how we as senior living specialists respond is critical. In this moderated session, join a Corporate Director of Resident Services, National Managing Director of Wellness, National Director of Memory Care & Life Enrichment and Senior Vice President of Clinical Risk Management explore the signs, symptoms and suggested interventions and program development both proactive and responsive to behavior/expression escalation, de-escalation and some specific circumstances that can contribute to behavior disruption in the various senior living settings from the perspective of the resident, resident and clinical services and memory care specialist.
