Patient-Centered and Palliative Wound Care are approaches that both emphasize what matters most to the patient/resident and their family. Both approaches take into account the patient's goals, values, lifestyle, medical factors, mobility, comfort, and time to healing vs. anticipated lifespan. Both approaches require a multi-disciplinary approach and both seek to maximize quality of life and promote overall well-being, which may not include wound ‘healing’ as the goal. This interdisciplinary panel discussion will share case studies to discuss various treatments and interventions that serve to achieve best outcomes for the patient, given their ultimate goals and wishes.
