Topicals and Wound Microbiota

Treatment of polymicrobial chronic wounds with oral and IV antibiotics can result in anti-microbial resistance, resulting in greater complexity and fewer treatment options. Ideally, chronic wounds could be treated with topical antibiotics tailored to the wound’s microbiome. This session will discuss options for successful topical antibiotic therapy and optimal management often avoiding systemic antibiotics.
