Pressure Injury Prevention and Detection in Patients With Darker Skin Tones (NPIAP)

It is now well accepted that pressure injuries in patients with darker skin tones are more difficult to detect than in those with lighter skin tones. This often results in delay in recognition until the pressure injury has reached a more advanced stage. This session will focus on strategies for earlier detection of pressure injury in those patients with darker skin tones especially Fitzpatrick Categories 5 and 6.
