60 min

2:15 PM - 3:15 PM
Chronic wounds are associated with lower quality of life and significant psychological impairments, including depression and anxiety. These psychological and cognitive disorders affect clinical healing outcomes. In addition to treating the wound, intervention for treating the behavioral and psychological impairments may be necessary to improve outcomes. Should a mental health care provider be part of the wound team? Is there a mechanistic link between the wound and the brain, as there is between the gut and the brain? This session will explore these questions.
