Infection: Probiotics , Antibiotics, and the Microbiome

Chronic wounds are notoriously challenging to treat because of bacterial colonization and complex microbial dysbiosis. Additional issue are persistent microorganisms often in the form of the slimy forcefield biofilm highly resistant to antimicrobials. This session will discuss multiple mechanisms chronic wound bacteria use to escape host immune response and treatment, and novel therapeutic approaches including the use of healing promoting probiotics.
