The prevalence of diabetes is constantly rising at an exponential rate which brings about a multitude of complications for patients suffering from uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. A diabetic foot ulceration (DFU) is a common complication of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, and if not treated promptly and properly, can lead to a partial or complete lower extremity amputation. Each DFU presents its own set inherit of challenges, and therefore many may require various approaches to healing. This session will take an evidence-based approach to debate various approaches to this medical conundrum from clinical work up including diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of patients with diabetic foot ulcers, with the aim being to avoid limb loss and prevention of reoccurrence.
