Inflammatory Wounds and Pyoderma Gangrenosum: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Pitfalls

Inflammatory wounds are frequently mistaken for infection, vascular disease, trauma, or nonhealing surgical wounds, which can delay appropriate treatment and worsen outcomes. Using pyoderma gangrenosum as a central example, this session examines diagnostic clues, biopsy considerations, systemic associations, pathergy risk, and treatment escalation. Special attention will be given to common missteps, including unnecessary debridement and delayed immunosuppression.
