IBD and the Skin: Inflammation, Manifestations, and Treatment Effects

Inflammatory bowel disease is closely linked to dermatologic disease, both through shared inflammatory pathways and treatment-related effects. This session reviews common and complex skin manifestations of IBD, including erythema nodosum, pyoderma gangrenosum, aphthous disease, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa overlap, and medication-associated eruptions. The discussion will highlight how GI disease activity, biologic selection, paradoxical reactions, and multidisciplinary coordination influence skin outcomes.
