Carmen McKinsey

Carmen James, PhD, helps leaders and organizations navigate moments of change with greater clarity, alignment, and impact. As a Senior Expert in McKinsey & Company’s People & Organizational Performance Practice, she works with senior leaders and teams on leadership development, team effectiveness, and organizational transformation. With more than 16 years of experience, Carmen brings a practical and energizing perspective on how leaders grow, how teams thrive, and how organizations create the conditions for people to advance. She has also contributed to McKinsey’s thought leadership on organizational change and leadership, including Change is changing and All About Teams. Carmen holds a PhD in Philosophy and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA from Harvard University. Before joining McKinsey, she led teams at General Assembly and taught emerging leaders at both Vanderbilt University and Columbia University.
