Charles de Vilmorin is SVP of Resident Engagement at LifeLoop and co-founder of Linked Senior, a resident engagement platform acquired by LifeLoop. He has spent more than 19 years working at the intersection of senior living, dementia care, life enrichment, wellness, and technology. Charles is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Validation Method Worker, and MEPAP 1 graduate. His work focuses on helping senior living communities move from activity delivery to measurable engagement, connection, purpose, and resident well-being.

From Burnout to Belonging: Staffing Memory Support for What Actually Matters

Memory support teams are being asked to do more with less: support residents with complex needs, manage family expectations, reduce distress, document outcomes, and create moments of connection while facing turnover, open positions, and burnout. Too often, staffing challenges are treated as scheduling problems rather than signals that the care model needs redesign.

This session reframes engagement as essential to health, not an optional activity layer. For Senior Living communities, that shift matters. When life enrichment is under-resourced or pushed onto already stretched nursing teams, staff exhaustion grows, residents become more isolated, and communities miss opportunities to prevent avoidable distress, improve quality of life, and strengthen family confidence.

Together, we will examine how memory support staffing can be redesigned around resident needs: belonging, purpose, routine, preference-based engagement, and consistent interdisciplinary support. The session will explore practical ways to elevate life enrichment as a core function, clarify roles across nursing, care, dining, activities, and leadership teams, and use simple data to make the case for investment.

Participants will leave with a clear framework for connecting staffing, engagement, and outcomes in memory support. We will discuss strategies to reduce turnover, improve team experience, and build routines that make engagement visible, measurable, and sustainable. Operations, Executive Directors, Clinical, and Resident Engagement leaders will gain practical ideas they can bring back to their communities to support residents and staff, creating environments where residents feel known and teams feel equipped to do meaningful work each day.

Amber Dahle, Vice President of Memory Care and Programming, leads strategy and innovation for engagement, programming, and dementia care across Harmony's communities. With over 15 years in senior living, she's known for building person-centered programs that boost quality of life and business outcomes alike. Amber has led national rollouts of engagement models integrating brain health, life enrichment, and dementia care into daily operations, emphasizing data-driven storytelling and cross-department collaboration. An active Alzheimer's Association advocate through "Do What You Love to End ALZ," she holds a Family and Human Development degree from Utah State University and is a Certified Dementia Trainer.

Traci Taylor-Roberts is Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Senior Services. She brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across senior living, home health, and hospice, with a track record of building teams, strengthening operations, and advancing resident-centered care. Prior to joining Harmony, she served as President of Sodalis Senior Living and held senior leadership roles in sales, revenue enhancement, and operations. Traci is known for her practical, people-first leadership style and her commitment to helping both residents and team members thrive.
