Krista Bauer Bio
Krista J. Bauer, RN, WCC, OMS, graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She has been a registered nurse for 14 years. She is a certified Wound and Ostomy nurse, “Treating the whole patient, not just the hole in the patient” all day, every day. Her most recent position was serving as the Inpatient Wound Care Coordinator for Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale Arizona. She is a wound nurse specializing in acute in-patient wound care and the continuum of care from the acute to the post-acute setting. Krista believes while care sometimes begins or culminates in the acute care setting, it is often the discharge, appropriate wound management and follow up that makes the difference in wound progression.

Krista has established herself and her team as key leaders in the hospital for wound management. Her skills extend to the operating room where she will first assist and perform some of the most complex dressing changes with NPWT alongside the surgeon.

The superb skills of the nursing team that Krista leads has allowed her the ability to expand her expertise to resident teaching, research, and lecturing. She has published several posters and articles with Dr. Desvigne regarding complex wound reconstruction and the advanced use of negative pressure therapy. Her belief is that sharing information will allow a 1000-fold increment in helping more patients get proper wound care, allowing the greatest good for the greatest number.

Krista is a proud Mom of 2 and enjoys spending time with family, travel, teaching, and wound care innovation.
