Dipu Patel, DMSc, MPAS, PA-C, ABAIM, is a board-certified, doctoral-trained physician assistant with over two decades of experience spanning clinical care, leadership, and education. Her background in emergency medicine, urgent care, and hematology/oncology informs her patient-centered approach and fuels her commitment to shaping the future of healthcare.
Currently serving as Vice Chair for Innovation and Professor at the University of Pittsburgh's DMSc program, Dipu is a national leader in digital health and artificial intelligence in medicine. She actively teaches and develops curriculum focused on innovation, quality improvement, digital health, and AI. Her role extends into consulting, coaching, and curriculum design across institutions nationwide.
Previously, she served as Director of Clinical Pathways in a healthcare startup, leading global teams to ensure provider-driven and patient-centered care models. She’s certified by the American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and is a published author, including the book Digital Health: Telemedicine and Beyond.
Dipu has held gubernatorial appointments on the Massachusetts Board of Registration for PAs for over a decade, serving as Chair for 11 years. Nationally, she served as Director-at-Large and now President of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA), where she champions policy and leadership development for PAs across the country.
Dipu is a force multiplier and changemaker, passionately integrating technology with humanity. She champions innovation that enhances, not replaces, the human touch. Her mission: to shape future clinician-leaders who think critically, act ethically, and lead boldly toward equitable, data-informed, compassion-centered healthcare.
