David E. Fisher, MD, PhD, Chief of the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Dermatology from 2008 to 2025, is the Edward Wigglesworth Professor of Dermatology Harvard Medical School. He also serves as director of Mass General’s Cutaneous Biology Research Center and director of its multidisciplinary Melanoma Center. A professor of dermatology and pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Fisher came to MGH from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he previously directed the melanoma program. Dr. Fisher’s research has focused on understanding molecular and genetic events which underlie formation of melanoma and skin pigmentation. As a clinician, he has worked to translate these understandings into advances in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of human diseases related to skin and associated disorders. Dr. Fisher is a 2020 inductee into the National Academy of Medicine. In 2022 he was selected to Direct the Melanoma Academy run by the US Department of Defense. And in 2025 he was selected as Fellow of the American Academy of Cancer Research (FAACR).

He received his doctorate under Nobel Laureate Gunter Blobel and Henry Kunkel at Rockefeller University and his medical degree at Cornell Medical College. Dr. Fisher’s specialty training in Medicine, Pediatrics, Oncology were carried out at MGH, Dana-Farber, Boston Children’s, Brigham and Women’s. His research contributions include elucidation of the pathway through which UV radiation induces pigmentation, identification of MITF as master transcriptional regulator in melanocytes and melanoma oncogene, novel approaches to melanoma treatment and prevention, and discovery of the link between ultraviolet radiation and addictive behaviors.

Melanoma Through the Oncology Lens: Treatment Advances Dermatologists Should Know

Melanoma care continues to evolve quickly, with advances in immunotherapy, targeted therapy, adjuvant and neoadjuvant treatment, response assessment, and toxicity management. This session translates key oncology developments into practical knowledge for dermatologists involved in diagnosis, referral, surveillance, and long-term patient care. The discussion will also address treatment-related skin findings and how systemic therapy decisions shape follow-up in dermatology practice.

Emma Guttman-Yassky, MD, PhD, is the Waldman Professor of Dermatology and Immunology and Health System Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. She is Director of the Center of Excellence in Eczema, Director of the Laboratory for Inflammatory Skin Diseases, and Co-Director of the Mount Sinai Clinique Skin Aging Center.

Dr. Guttman earned her MD from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and her PhD from Bar-Ilan University, Israel. After completing dermatology training in Israel, she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at The Rockefeller University, followed by a second dermatology residency at Weill Cornell Medical College, where she obtained American board certification.

Her research focuses on atopic dermatitis (eczema), hair loss disorders, and skin aging. She has made paradigm-shifting discoveries defining the immunologic basis of atopic dermatitis in both adults and children, leading to the development of targeted therapies. Her work has also advanced the understanding and treatment of alopecia areata, scarring alopecia, chronic hand eczema, keloids, ichthyosis, and other inflammatory skin diseases.

Dr. Guttman co-founded the International Eczema Council and is its past president. She has received numerous national and international awards, delivered keynote and plenary lectures worldwide, and authored more than 475 peer-reviewed publications in leading medical journals.

Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors Across Tumor Types: Present and Future

Immune checkpoint inhibitors have transformed cancer treatment across melanoma and many other tumor types, creating new opportunities and new toxicities for dermatologists to understand. This session reviews current and emerging uses of checkpoint blockade, mechanisms of response and resistance, combination strategies, and future directions in immuno-oncology. Dermatology-relevant considerations include cutaneous immune-related adverse events, coordination with oncology, and the expanding role of dermatologists in supportive cancer care.

Ryan Stidham

Ryan Stidham is a translational scientist caring exclusively for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Ryan joined Mayo Clinic Florida in 2025 with a joint appointment in the Division of Gastroenterology and the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics, where he serves as the Director of AI Clinical Partnerships. Prior to this he was a tenured Professor in both the Department of Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics and Department of Medicine where he served as the Associate Chair of Translational Research.

His research focus is technology development for improving disease activity measurement, clinical trial endpoint development, and automating care in IBD. Dr. Stidham’s research team has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the Broad Foundation, the Leona Helmsley Charitable Trust, and several industry sponsored research collaborations. His team's work has been licensed by several technology companies and is being actively used in drug development.

Dr. Stidham received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, completed his internal medicine training at the University of Pennsylvania, and was an NIH T-32 Research Fellow of Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Stidham has advanced training in medical imaging physics, signals analysis, electronic data management, and clinical research design and statistical analysis. He lives in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife Carrie and daughter Violet.
