2027 Sessions

After the Note Is Written: The Real-World Consequences of AI Clinical Documentation

Session Description: Ambient documentation and AI-assisted note-taking have become some of the most widely adopted clinical AI applications, but time savings are only part of the story. This session will examine how AI-generated notes affect documentation quality, clinical judgment, medical necessity, coding, audits, patient trust, clinician workload, and regulatory risk. Panelists will discuss what organizations are measuring, whether these tools are reducing after-hours work and improving consistency, and which capabilities may be creating more review burden or risk than value. The discussion will also consider behavioral health-specific privacy requirements, including the implications of 42 CFR Part 2 for AI tools that touch SUD records and clinical information.
