Amy Birkel

Amy Birkel is a dynamic and results oriented leader with a proven track record in operations and leadership. Amy has dedicated her career to serving older adults for more than thirty years.

As the Chief Operating Officer at Heritage Communities, Amy oversees a diverse portfolio of twenty-four senior living communities spanning six states. Based in Omaha, Nebraska Heritage Communities additionally offers home health and hospice services.

With education in business management and gerontology, Amy is the creator of Portraits ™. This Heritage Communities program uses Montessori principles and applies them to exercise cognitive skills in adults living with dementia based on their interests and abilities. Amy spent time at McMaster’s University in Ontario studying how other countries and ecosystems support the aging population as part of her research.

As a graduate of Stagen Leadership Acadmey, Amy also teaches a Foundational Leadership Course for leaders and is a Certified, "Three Vital Questions" Coach.
