I am a paramedic and Field Training Officer with UMC EMS in Lubbock, Texas, with nearly a decade of frontline experience and a relentless commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of EMS providers. My academic background includes an MS in Emergency Management/Disaster Preparedness, a BS in Public Health, and current graduate studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which strengthen my passion for modernizing mental health approaches in EMS. Working in the trenches alongside my crews, I’ve seen firsthand the toll that cumulative trauma, outdated cultural norms, and ineffective support models take on EMS. My major accomplishments include leading provider-focused wellness efforts, developing educational content on EMS mental health, and actively pushing for policy change to create safer, clinically grounded support systems for EMS providers.
