Anthropic announced new health care and life sciences features for Claude that let users share access to health records and, in beta, data from Apple Health and Android Health Connect to better understand medical information and manage healthcare tasks. The launch comes just days after OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health, highlighting a broader push by major AI companies into healthcare as scrutiny grows over whether chatbots can safely interpret medical information.

The consumer features are available in beta for Pro and Max users in the U.S., with health-app integrations rolling out this week. Anthropic emphasized privacy safeguards, saying shared health data is excluded from Claude’s memory and not used to train future models, and users can revoke permissions at any time. Anthropic also announced provider-facing tools, including a “HIPAA-ready” infrastructure and integrations intended to reduce administrative burden, such as support for prior authorizations and insurance appeals, while stressing that clinicians should remain in the loop for high-stakes decisions.
