Intended Learners

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, pharmacists, advanced practice registered nurses, registered nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health practitioners, law enforcement, and addiction practitioners. 

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss strategies to prevent stimulant abuse, provide access to treatment, and ensure that stimulants are part of larger societal discussions about addressing drug use.
  • Describe the prevalence, predictors, and consequences of prescription stimulant misuse.
  • Explain motivations for prescription stimulant misuse and how these medications are procured.
  • Discuss examples of interventions aimed at preventing prescription stimulant misuse and diversion.

Activity Overview

To be eligible for documentation of credit, participants must attend the full activity and submit a completed evaluation form. Participants who complete the evaluation online within 1 year of the training will receive immediate documentation of credit. The certificate is not the official record of your participation in the activity. The official record of credit will be the information in the CPE Monitor system. Following ACPE Policy, HMP Education must transmit your claim to CPE Monitor within 60 days from the date you complete this CPE activity. HMP Education is not able to report your claimed credit after this 60-day period. Eligibility for pharmacy credit is contingent upon the successful completion of a post-test and/or evaluation for each activity or session attended.

Nurses

This continuing nursing education enduring activity awards 8.25 contact hours. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #13255 for contact hours.

Nurse Practitioners

American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Program accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants

AAPA

HMP Education has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) to award  AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with the AAPA CME Criteria. This enduring activity is designated for 8.25 AAPA Category 1 credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Psychologists

APA Logo Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

Social Workers

As a Jointly Accredited Provider, HMP Education is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. HMP Education maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this internet enduring course 8.25 general continuing education credits.

NAADAC Addiction Professionals

This course has been approved by HMP Global, as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for educational credits. NAADAC Provider #182840. HMP Global is responsible for all aspects of the programming.
