The wound microenvironment is made up of various cells, enzymes, cytokines, growth factors and microbiome that function within a dynamic and ever-changing extracellular matrix. This session will examine the differences between normal and abnormal microenvironments, how to evaluate them, and what current and emerging therapies are available to support healing in chronic wounds. Factors such as inflammation, microbial presence, and oxygenation will be discussed.
