A wound care specialist’s goal is to promote soft tissue healing and closure of a soft tissue defect. This race against time to full closure is a race against preventing and/or managing soft tissue and bone infections. Due to the nature of acute or chronic wounds it’s not always possible. This is when the wound care specialist must fully understand how to manage and treat soft tissue and bone infections to effectively care for their patient. This session will focus on the evaluation, diagnose, and treatment of soft tissue and bone infections across multiple disciplines with the aim of providing the most optimal healing conditions and limiting the spread of infection generating better patient outcomes.
