Angiosome anatomy refers to the specific vascular territories supplied by distinct arteries and veins, playing a critical role in the management and healing of wounds. Understanding angiosome anatomy is vital to clinicians, particularly in the fields of vascular surgery and wound management. Knowledge of these distinct vascular territories aids in understanding local as well as downstream skin and underlying tissue damage patterns. Knowledge of angiosome vascular anatomy and dermal vascular patterns facilitates the identification of compromised blood flow regions, guiding revascularization procedures and enhancing the outcomes for wound healing. This knowledge is essential in creating care plans for interventions and for understanding tissue death patterns when blood supply cannot be reestablished due to clinical complications of the patient, such as the inability to revascularize arteries in the lower extremity.
