RAPID FIRE: Mattresses and Support Surfaces 101

Pressure Injury support surfaces are interventions used to prevent and treat pressure injuries and range from simple static surfaces to complex dynamic surfaces. This session will explore the evidence for surface utilization and discuss the benefits and risks associated with each primary category. Further, a perspective will be shared to explore how a specialty surface effects not only skin, but safety, mobility, falls, and overall well-being. The audience will gain insight to address specialty surfaces from a more holistic approach to achieve outcomes that extend beyond the wound.
