Innovation Theater Dinner (non-CME): Comparative Effectiveness and Economics of Advanced Skin Substitutes Using Big Data

90 min
Tuesday, May 14, 2024
5:15 PM - 6:45 PM
Sponsored by Smith+Nephew.

Chronic wounds including diabetic foot ulcers and venous leg ulcers are complex to manage and costly to treat. Relative to standard care, advanced therapies comprised of cellular tissue products from placental allografts represent the cutting edge to improve health outcomes for chronic wounds. Recently published research using big data has illustrated that these advanced therapies lead to improved healing rates, reduced chances of negative consequences including amputation, and overall increased economic benefits to health systems. We will examine the peer-reviewed evidence on this subject matter and discuss how shifts in reimbursement policy could increase meaningful use of advanced therapies for chronic wounds.
