Dr. Debarati Chattopadhyay, MS, MCh is a Professor in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, India. She is a clinician-scientist with a strong focus on translational research in wound healing, regenerative medicine, and reconstructive surgery.

Her research integrates clinical and molecular approaches to understand chronic wound biology, with particular emphasis on trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), biofilm dynamics, and predictors of wound recurrence. She has authored over 80 PubMed-indexed publications with an h-index of 10 and has published in leading journals including Scientific Reports, Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, and Advances in Wound Care. Her work on TEWL as a biomarker for wound closure has been recognized internationally and cited in global wound care forums.

Dr. Chattopadhyay has led multiple funded research projects as Principal Investigator, including major grants from ICMR and the Department of Health Research, as well as international collaborations with Indiana University, USA. Her current research includes high-value projects in 3D bioprinted skin constructs, multi-omics analysis of burn wound biofilms, and AI-driven antimicrobial platforms.

She actively mentors postgraduate and doctoral trainees and is committed to advancing evidence-based innovations in wound care and reconstructive surgery.
