Dr. Jeroen Eyckmans is Research Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. He received his PhD in Medical Sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, and after postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and Boston University, joined BU’s faculty in 2018. The Eyckmans Lab is driven by a central mission: to uncover the mechanisms behind tissue regeneration, impaired wound healing, and fibrosis in order to develop transformative therapies that improve patient outcomes. Working at the intersection of engineering and biology, his team integrates expertise in mechanobiology, synthetic biology, biomaterials, and medicine to engineer advanced 3D models of wound healing, morphogenesis, and vascularization. These biomimetic systems recreate essential features of human tissues and microenvironments, providing powerful platforms to reveal fundamental principles of repair and to accelerate the development of new regenerative therapies.
