Fernanda Schmidt

Dr. Schmidt is a dermatologist with expertise in pediatrics. She provides care to pre-term babies, infants, children and adolescents with all types of skin conditions. Her areas of academic interest and clinical research include ichthyoses and other genodermatoses, melanocytic lesions, psychosocial effects of skin disease in children, among others. She is the director of the Pediatric Dermatology clinic at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the director of the inpatient pediatric consultation service at Holtz Children’s Hospital. She has established and leads a pioneer surgical pediatric service at Holtz Children’s Hospital, where children can safely and comfortably undergo dermatological procedures under light sedation to general anesthesia, provided by a qualified team of anesthesiologists. She is also actively involved in medical education and was awarded “Best Teacher” by the dermatology residency class of 2022 at the Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, University of Miami.
