Marissa Carter is President of Strategic Solutions, Inc. (SSI), a small business formed in 2000 that specializes in medical research. Dr. Carter designs and analyzes clinical trials and interventions; analyzes real-world data; organizes and conducts systematic reviews; and conducts health economic studies from simple cost studies to advanced models. Her interests include research in wound care, evidence-based medicine, cost-effectiveness, ophthalmology, epidemiology, and orthopedics. Dr Carter spends significant time working with the FDA and has collaborated with the agency on a variety of projects, including the development of new endpoints in clinical trials under the auspices of the WCCC. She is an active member of the WCCC and has chaired the real-world evidence group and currently chair the clinical trial committee group. Dr Carter has also led international projects with the WHO and been part of research efforts with CMS and the Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders. She holds an MA in biochemistry from Oxford University and a PhD in chemistry from Brandeis University and is the author or coauthor of over 150 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in medicine and chemistry.
