Many patients, particularly those with mobility issues, have pressure injuries on the sacrum or coccyx. Stool and urinary incontinence and other sources of contamination complicate wound healing and make it difficult to care for and heal these wounds. This session addresses the multi-faceted components of preventing and decreasing contamination in patients with sacral wounds. This includes identifying the cause of contamination, medical and nutrition considerations, wound management strategies and documentation.
