Dr. Eric K. Singhi is an Assistant Professor and Thoracic Medical Oncologist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Vanderbilt University and served as Chief Hematology/Oncology fellow at MD Anderson during his training.

As faculty at MD Anderson, Dr. Singhi specializes in patient education research and young onset lung cancer research. He serves as the medical oncology lead for the MD Anderson Young-Onset Lung Cancer Program, Patient Safety and Quality Officer for the Thoracic Medical Oncology Service Line, Director of Thoracic Research for the MD Anderson Cancer Network, and Director of the Thoracic Medical Oncology rotation for the MD Anderson medical oncology fellowship program. Nationally, he serves on the ASCO NSCLC Guidelines Committee, and Internationally on the IASLC Communications Committee.

Neoadjuvant Only

Faculty will examine treatment strategies for patients with resectable lung cancer and discuss whether a neoadjuvant-only strategy is sufficient for disease control or if incorporating both neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy through a perioperative approach offers greater benefit. Discussion will review emerging clinical trial data, survival outcomes, and toxicity considerations. Participants will explore how these approaches may be optimally applied in contemporary resectable lung cancer care.

The speaker will review clinical trial data supporting preoperative systemic approaches, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and their impact on pathologic response and surgical outcomes. The discussion will address patient selection, timing of surgery, and safety considerations, and revisit the benefits and limitations of neoadjuvant strategies in resectable lung cancer.

Jamie E Chaft, MD is an Attending Physician at Mememorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she serves as the Director of Early Stage Lung Cancer Research. She designs and leads clinical trials striving to improve the cure rates in early stage lung cancers. In such a capacity, she serves as Study Chair for the NCTN trial of adjuvant nivolumab within the ALCHEMIST program and co-lead of the LCRF LEADER study bringing personalized neoadjuvant therapies to patients with resectable lung cancer. Dr. Chaft's career is committeed to moving drugs shown to have promise in more advanced lung cancers into the early stage setting.

Perioperative Therapy

Faculty will examine treatment strategies for patients with resectable lung cancer and discuss whether a neoadjuvant-only strategy is sufficient for disease control or if incorporating both neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy through a perioperative approach offers greater benefit. Discussion will review emerging clinical trial data, survival outcomes, and toxicity considerations. Participants will explore how these approaches may be optimally applied in contemporary resectable lung cancer care.

Examine perioperative therapy strategies for patients with resectable lung cancer, incorporating both neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment approaches. Faculty will review evidence demonstrating how perioperative systemic therapy may improve recurrence risk and long-term survival outcomes, while addressing sequencing considerations, toxicity management, and coordination of care across the surgical and medical oncology settings.

Estelamari Rodriguez

Dr. Estelamari Rodriguez is Co-Lead of the Thoracic Site Disease Group and Associate Director of Community Outreach and of the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She is an active member of the Sylvester Experimental Therapeutics Program and has served as principal investigator of several early phase and cooperative group clinical trials in the United States. She is a member of the ECOG Thoracic Committee and Chair-elect of the ASCO Evidence Based Medicine Committee. Dr. Rodriguez received her bachelors degree from Columbia College and her medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Columbia University’s New York-Presbyterian Hospital and her medical oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Rodriguez also has a master’s degree in Public Health from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain. She has given numerous international lectures as invited speaker on issues related to lung cancer treatment and healthcare disparities.

She went to Cornell for college, medical school at University of Michigan Medical School, did her internal medicine residency at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and did her oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
