A specialist in clinical trial development, endometrial cancer, low grade serous ovarian cancer, robotic surgery, sentinel lymph node evaluation, and immunotherapy, Dr. Brian Slomovitz is Director of Gynecologic Oncologic and Co-Chair of the Cancer Research Committee at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He is also a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Florida International University.

Dr. Slomovitz is a member of the Board of Directors at the GOG Foundation and the Uterine Cancer Lead for GOG Partners. He is also the national or global principal investigator on a number of GOG Partners, NCI, and Alliance Foundation clinical trials. He authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and lectured extensively. In addition, Dr. Slomovitz has been recognized as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly Medical for the past several years.

Dr. Slomovitz graduated from Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School, and completed his residency at New York Presbyterian – Cornell Medical Center in 2002. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, he completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology in 2006. He is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology.

Immunotherapy for All

This debate will contrast broad use of immunotherapy with molecular profiling-guided individualized approaches in frontline care for metastatic endometrial cancer. Evaluate clinical trial data supporting immunotherapy across patient populations alongside evidence for tailoring therapy based on molecular subtypes, reviewing practical considerations in applying these strategies in routine practice. Speakers will illuminate how evolving data are reshaping personalized care in endometrial cancer care.

Faculty will review key clinical trial data supporting immune-based regimens, including outcomes across molecular and histologic subtypes, and address patient selection, toxicity management, and integration of immunotherapy into current treatment algorithms. Participants will explore the expanding role of immunotherapy in improving outcomes for patients.

John P. Diaz, M.D., FACOG, FACS, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist with a distinguished career in clinical care, academic leadership and research. He currently serves as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and holds multiple leadership roles at Baptist Health South Florida, including chief of gynecologic oncology, director of robotic surgery and director of clinical research in gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he was inducted into Iron Arrow, the university’s highest honor society. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami and went on to complete his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he received the Department of Surgery Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Research.
A surgical innovator, Dr. Diaz has helped pioneer novel procedures such as fertility-sparing radical trachelectomy for early-stage cervical cancer and sentinel lymph node mapping in gynecologic malignancies. He also performed Florida’s first uterine transposition procedure for a patient with gynecologic cancer, preserving reproductive potential in a groundbreaking approach. In addition, he was awarded a $1.7 million research grant to investigate novel therapeutics for the treatment of gynecologic cancers.
Dr. Diaz has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, remains deeply committed to medical education and mentorship. His work reflects an enduring dedication to advancing women’s cancer care, surgical innovation and academic leadership on both a regional and national level.
