Thomas Krivak
MD
Director, Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology Research
The West Penn Hospital/Allegheny Health Network

I am a Gyn Oncologist in an academic environment who participates regularly in outreach gynecologic oncology care. These sites include smaller cancer centers that treat a large volume of cancer patients. Due to the fact that we have such a large network of cancer center across the Western Pennsylvania region and I travel to many of these sites to evaluate provide treatment to women with gynecologic malignancies, this provides a unique opportunity for us to develop evidence based clinical pathways for selection of chemotherapy and other treatment modalities. As an academic gynecologic oncologist, I have been very active in the development of Phase II and Phase III protocols within the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as well as to placing patients on these protocols and Gynecologic Oncology Group protocols. We understand that evidence based medicine and the development of clinical pathways will improve not only cancer treatment outcomes but hopefully decrease the toxicity of therapy and potentially decrease costs. I have gained additional experience in program building and development of a clinical trial program and translational research program with my new position in the Allegheny Health Network. Over the past 10 years I have gained experience in the managerial aspect of clinical trial development and implementation of a research program.
