The Silent Epidemic: Burnout, Boundaries, and the Brave Face of EMS

Yes, I understand

Burnout and compassion fatigue remain among the most pervasive and least-acknowledged threats to the EMS workforce. Behind every calm voice and controlled scene lies an emotional toll that many providers silently carry. This session provides a candid, empathetic examination of the mental and emotional strain inherent in EMS—and the critical importance of boundaries, recovery habits, and culture change.

Attendees will learn how to spot early warning signs, interrupt burnout cycles, and adopt practical resilience techniques supported by real-world experience. The session emphasizes culturally realistic strategies—tools that EMS providers can use on shift, at home, and within their teams to preserve passion, performance, and well-being.
