James Augustine, MD is an emergency physician who brings extensive clinical and operational experience to his role as Medical Director for Lee County EMS, Collier County EMS, North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District. Fort Myers Fire Rescue, and Lehigh Acres Fire Rescue. He is a member of the Eagles group of Medical Directors, and is widely recognized for his expertise in fire-rescue emergency response and EMS system leadership.
In addition to his work with the District, Dr. Augustine is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Gaining Creds With Meds: Critical Elements of Medication Delivery by EMS Providers

At no time in its history has EMS had as many issues with its most basic tools, including its medical supplies and medications. For 15 years there have been major shortages, substitutions, safety issues, and threats to safe and effective EMS practice. This presentation will focus attention on availability, expanded uses, quality improvement, and performance data measures. There will be materials shared for attendees to take home and apply to improve practice in a variety of EMS models.
