2:15 PM - 3:15 PM
Do you get excited about an imminent birth, or does the mere mention make your palms sweat? Either way, this course can help you to implement best practices regarding imminent birth, whether all is going well, or problems present themselves. We will use our experience as community birth midwives and EMS providers to help normalize birth.
We will discuss normal birth, and how to guard that experience and keep it safe for all involved. We will share best practices for birth care, and ways to simplify everything to keep the focus where it belongs, on the mother and baby. We will share tips and insider perspective to help bring birth back to what most of the time it is: a normal, natural event. When things don't proceed in a normal manner, simple basic ideas can help you to keep the process safe and well managed. We will discuss, demonstrate, and drill methods to help with shoulder dystocia, breech babies, cord prolapse, twins, pre-eclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage, maternal mental health disorders, maternal sepsis, and maternal cardiac arrest.
