The Residents & Fellows Experience

CIO welcomes current fellows in training and residents for an opportunity to participate in the Resident & Fellow Activity Scholarship, which provides tuition assistance for the 2026 Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO).

Scholarships Include:

  • Complimentary registration* for the 2026 CIO Symposium, including access to all conference events Saturday and Sunday.
  • Coverage of up to 3 hotel room nights at conference hotel.  *Geographical location will be taken into account when offering hotel room nights.*

*Valid on new registrations only.

Eligibility for Scholarships

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited resident or fellowship program at the time of the meeting in November 2026.

  • Applicants must complete the application, including agreement to the requirements and the following document uploads:
    • ​​A signed letter on letterhead, from your program director, confirming your status as a current resident or fellow in November 2026.

Terms of Acceptance

Attend sessions in full

Acceptance of this scholarship requires the awardee to attend all sessions of the conference, in full, including additional sessions designated specifically for residents and fellows. The conference begins on Saturday, November 14, and ends Sunday, November 15. Please plan your schedule accordingly. 

Session Sign-in

In order to receive your scholarship stipend, you must sign in to designated sessions. The list of sessions requiring sign-in will be posted on this page on our website as soon as it is available. Please check back for updates. Failure to attend required sessions in full at the conference will cause your scholarship payment to be at risk of forfeit.

Registration

Scholarship recipients are required to register to attend CIO using the steps and information provided in the acceptance email within two weeks of receiving the acceptance email. Failure to register to attend the meeting within this timeline will cause your scholarship to be forfeited.

Payment Information

Scholarship recipients are required to submit a completed W-9 form and the forms required for direct deposit (US applicants) or a completed wire transfer form (international applicants). 

Travel Information

Scholarship recipients are also required to submit a copy of a final travel itinerary, including flight information, to Elizabeth Ketter at eketter@hmpglobal.com or the scholarship will be at risk of forfeit.

Post-Conference Survey

Scholarship recipients are required to complete a post-conference survey that will be sent via email after the conference. This survey needs to be completed by Sunday, November 29, 2026 (within 2 weeks of the conference). Failure to complete this survey will cause your scholarship payment to be at risk of forfeit.

 

Schedule of Events

Acceptance of this scholarship requires the awardee to attend all sessions of the conference, in full, including additional sessions designated specifically for residents and fellows.  The conference begins on Saturday, November 14, and ends Sunday, November 15. List of required events for scholarship recipients to attend during the conference coming soon. Sign-in for these sessions will be required.

**Attendance to all other sessions not listed below as posted on the agenda on the website  and in the mobile app are required to receive the CIO 2026 Scholarship. Schedule of events subject to change.** 

 

Important Dates

Applications will continue to be accepted until all spots are filled. A waitlist will also be started. Please see below for approximate notification timelines.

  • April 9 – August 10: Applicants notified of acceptance on a rolling basis. Waitlisted applicants will be notified as well.

  • Within 2 Weeks of Email Acceptance: Registration Deadline. If you have been accepted for a scholarship and have not registered for the conference within two weeks of receiving your acceptance email, your scholarship will be forfeited and offered to someone on the waitlist.
  • August 24: Travel Information Deadline. Submit your travel itinerary to Elizabeth Ketter at eketter@hmpglobal.com by this date.
  • August 24: Cancellation Deadline. Cancellation requests must be received no later than August 13, 2025. Please email your cancellation request to Elizabeth Ketter at eketter@hmpglobal.com

  • November 14–15: Attend CIO in Miami Beach, Florida. Attend sessions in full and sign in to designated sessions at the conference.

  • November 29: Deadline to complete the post-conference survey

Cancellations

Scholarships are limited. If you are unable to attend, please notify Elizabeth Ketter at eketter@hmpglobal.com immediately so HMP can extend your complimentary registration to another resident or fellow on the waiting list.

No-Shows

Failure to send a cancellation request or attend CIO in full will result in ineligibility for future scholarship opportunities at HMP Global conferences, which include but are not limited to the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET), Clinical Symposium on Interventional Oncology (CIO), Western Atrial Fibrillation Symposium (Western AFIB), and the Amputation Prevention Symposium (AMP).
